Law of Attraction miniseries

Over the next 5 days, I will be posting a 5 part series on the Law of Attraction.

If you are unfamiliar with this concept, it is basically an explanation of the natural laws of how we subjectively create our reality. There are many interpretations as to why this is so, from vibrations to ‘formless substance’ to the arrangement of electrons to the theory that the entire universe is a projection of our mind, and that any changes to the mind will change reality.

I personally do not want to get into the WHY or HOW it happens, or get into any metaphysical explanation. I ultimately, like everyone else in the universe, do not know for sure. All I know is it requires no ‘metaphysical’ or ‘esoteric’ ideas in order to understand and apply. To be honest, the law of attraction is something of a psychological fact, and is very akin to self-fulfilling prophecy.

Psychological Fact

First and foremost, the human form is merely 1 specialized mechanism for perceiving reality. It is certainly not the be all and end all of living organisms, nor does it perceive anything close to the full spectrum of what consciousness holds. But the mechanism can be directed in specific ways.

Imagine if you were using just simple eye glasses as a ‘mechanism’ for observing the world outside your window, at night time. Maybe you can just barely make out a tree at the edge of the lawn, but nothing else, just pitch black. Now, imagine you changed your ‘mechanism’ for observing to heat-detection goggles. Suddenly, you see a bird flying by, and a deer off in the distance, and maybe a raccoon digging around in the dirt(but you might miss the outline of the tree completely).

Now obviously, nothing about the outside reality really changed, but your mechanism for perception did, and allowed more to come into the perceptive spectrum. As human beings, we are confined to the human nervous system as our mechanism for perceiving reality, and we can only perceive to the extent that our mechanism allows, BUT we can highly alter our mechanism for specific purposes; if you want to find heat in the dark, you use heat-detection goggles.

Using the Law of Attraction is like altering the mechanism we use to perceive other aspects of reality. This is the law of attraction to me. It doesn’t need to be filled with any ‘woo-woo’ or ‘eclectic’ or even ‘spiritual’ ideas, and it isn’t a pseudoscience either. Going to cooking school to become a cook is part of the law of attraction, it’s that simple. It is about directing your mind for the specific purpose to bringing more of that particular thing into your life. If you want to become a doctor, it is likely that no amount of visualizing or intention or gratitude will get you there without pursuing goals more in line with medicine(like medical school). That being said, it is unlikely for someone to go through years of medical school, then get out and become a famous rock star with no musical training or even drive to do so in the first place.

These simple examples are proof of the law of attraction. It doesn’t have to be about blind faith or even jadedness, it is a methodology for directing our intention to fulfill our lives.

So without further ado, I will be touching on what I believe are the 5 pillars of the Law of Attraction. Each of these can be read as its own self-contained post, or as part of a whole, mini-course for the Law of Attraction. Not any one of these is more important than the others, and you will actually find much overlap and similarities between some of them. I highly highly suggest reading them multiple times, on different occasions and trying to glean something new from them each time.

Intention and Attention

This will set the basis of the Law of Attraction, as you must first bring what you want to manifest into your consciousness, fill your attention with it, and intend to reach your goal.

Expectation and Assumption

This part is about the basic attitudes and demeanor that will be required to bring changes in your life with Law of Attraction. This is the ‘meat’ of the Law of Attraction, and probably has the most overlap with all the other subjects, but this isn’t necessarily the most ‘important’; these are all equally important interdependent parts.

Desire and Letting Go

Not to be confused with ‘attachment,’ desire is important for impregnating your thoughts and intentions with strong emotion and feeling. We are much more likely to move towards our goals when we feel strongly for them, but again, this isn’t about getting attached to them. We must desire those things, without being attached to the outcome, and letting go.

Visualization and Affirmation

This part is about helping you get the Expectation for the things your desire, and will tune your awareness in powerful ways to the essence of the things you desire. Visualization is used by Athletes, performers, and others all over world for the purposes of performing more efficiently.

Gratitude and Acceptance

This part is about turning your attention to the things you already have that are in alignment with what you further intend, as well as how we can perceive things when they don’t turn out exactly as we’d planned. We must also be in a place to accept what we manifest when ii finally comes to us.

As I’ve said, none of these parts are more important than the others, and they can all be taken as a singular lesson without any of the other 5 aspects. Cultivating and practicing just one of the above will greatly enhance the quality of your life, and will help you live with purpose and fulfillment.
